Susan G. Komen Orange County® is on a mission to energize science to find the cures for breast cancer!
Komen Orange County is embarking on an exciting partnership with MemorialCare Medical Group and Susan G. Komen Tissue Bank at Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center.
The Komen Tissue Bank is the only repository in the world for normal breast tissue and matched serum, plasma and DNA. By studying normal tissue, we accelerate research for the causes and prevention of breast cancer. To more deeply understand the evolution of the disease, it is necessary to compare abnormal, cancerous tissue against normal, healthy tissue.
On Saturday, November 2, 2013, a Tissue Bank Collection Event will be held in Orange County with the goal of collecting tissue samples from racially and ethnically diverse women. This is the first time a collection event has been held on the West Coast.
